Trey Hillman's future

Published May 10, 2010 at 12:35 a.m.

With the team on a five game losing streak, including at least 3 games that they should have won, and after Gil Meche threw 128 pitches on Saturday night. It's time for a poll regarding the job future of Royals manager Trey Hillman.

As you know, Trey Hillman's contract is up at the end of 2010.

Hillman's odd managing moves, along with his complete unwillingness to hold players accountable for bad play seems to support the idea of not bringing him back in 2011. How are young players expected to develop with a manager who isn't respected by the veterans? Not to mention a manager whose icy demeanor reminds long time fans of Tony Muser.

But most of the problems of this team are due to Dayton Moore's complete inability to put together a major league team (but don't worry, he can identify major league-worthy prospects, really). So members of Team Hillman can deflect the blame for Hillman's bad record back onto Moore. Also, some could call for stability in the organization or claim that Hillman isn't any worse than the average manager.

Here is the question for the esteemed sweatpants-wearing Royals blogosphere.

Should Trey Hillman's contract to manage the Kansas City Royals be extended past 2010?
